Our Recipients 

"The Newman Neighbourhood centre is a community centre located in the

heart of the Pilbara. Surrounded by desert its a hot dry Iron ore town and

we very much needed to update our gardens and outdoor spaces. We held

a busy bee with both members of the community and staff to repot plants,

install grass, build a mud kitchen and a play boat for the outdoor creche

space. We also installed Vege trugs and vegie garden boxes ready for the

cooler season when we can successfully grow vegetables, which we can

heavily involve our creche kids in the process of planting, growing and then

eating healthy vegetables. Many members of our very isolated community come to our centre to rest, work and relax. We hold many events and workshops and to have inviting gardens and an aesthetically pleasing outdoor space can make our visitors feel welcomed and relaxed. Being able to provide a space that can directly assist the communities mental health is meaningful to both us an an organisation and the people of Newman"
