"In 2021 I was given a grant of $5000 by The Connellan Trust to undertake a Turbine Helicopter Endorsement. After Covid 19, logistics and severe weather caused several delays and cancellations I flew to Townsville to try again. Thankfully Townsville Helicopters were able to conduct my training at very short notice. I undertook my Basic Gas Turbine Endorsement over two days, which involved several hours of ground theory on engine and Helicopter specifications, followed by four and a half hours flight time. I used the money given to me by the Trust to put towards paying for the cost of the helicopter used for the training, which was approximately $8,000. I paid for all the flights, food, accommodation and remainder of the training cost myself.

Following the completion of my training, I put a post on my Facebook page to acknowledge the Trust’s work in supporting me. Currently the post has received over 330 likes, 50 comments and been viewed over 1,000 times.

I can't thank The Connellan Trust enough for their support, which has allowed me to overcome huge logistical and financial challenges. In providing a contribution to my training, The Connellan Trust has shown they believe in me, I am truly grateful for their faith in me. 

I am excited to be able to continue to contribute to the outback community with my new skills. "
