30 Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the Allison House Student Accommodation Inc. House facing North for optimum efficiency. It is anticipated there will be a saving of up to $3000 per year in electricity cost from the grid. The welfare of isolated families of our boarding students is important, and this will ensure that families do not bear the brunt of increased utility costs.
Electricity, water and gas utilities are the most expensive output for an
accommodation facility, solar energy in Broken Hill where there is mostly
cloudless days is an ideal solution to lowering the cost of electricity, however, the cost of installation was out of our reach.
The Connellan Airways Trust grant has enabled our project to come to fruition.
