Our Recipients 

Frontier Services is very grateful for the generous funding of $5,000 for BP fuel cards that were used by our outback Links volunteers. This volunteer program was on hold from December 2013 to 30 June 2014. The program was relaunched on 1 July 2014. From 1 July to 7th January 2015 the fuel cards supported 39 placements: 12 NSW (Broken Hill, White Cliffs, Lightning Ridge, Yeoval), 24 (Camooweal, Isisford, Mitchell, Bollon, Charleville, Windorah, Goondiwindi, St George, Cunnamulla, Hughendon, Toowoomba, Morven, Pormpuraaw, Quilpie) QLD, 3 WA (Cadoux, Carnarvon, Kununurra). These areas include severely drought affected areas, around Lightning Ridge/Walgett NSW and Mitchell in SW QLD which saw volunteers assist across the full range of activities at a property, from in the home (cooking, cleaning, painting, gardening, yard maintenance) to helping with stock (checking water, pumps, feeding and mustering). Two fuel cards were used by Mid North Coast Volunteer of the Year Award 2014 winner and NSW Volunteer of the Year finalist Geoff Bond, who admits to relishing the wide open spaces of the bush and the opportunity to make a difference. When Mr Bond first signed up to Outback Links, he and his wife Roz travelled 1800 kilometres to south west Queensland. “We were surprised [he said] by the variety of tasks which we were both able to perform and to really assist in a meaningful way. This and the gratitude shown by the owners have kept us involved ever since.
