CQU Connellan Airways Trust Scholarship
Bachelor of Nursing student, Kasey Gough, is determined to improve Australia’s rural health care system, and a CQUniCares Connellan Airways Trust Scholarship is helping her achieve her goals.
Kasey was one of four students to be awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Connellan Airways Trust, alongside Leanne Mott (Bachelor of Engineering – Honours), Britney Hannay (Bachelor of Paramedic Science) and Kaya Salmond (Bachelor of Education – Early Childhood).
Along with the confidence boost, Kasey believes receiving this scholarship has been a major highlight during her time at CQUniversity so far.
“This scholarship means so much to me,” she said.
“It allowed me to study online, and provided me with the equipment to meet the requirements of my degree, such as a stethoscope.”
As a Charters Towers local, Kasey has recognised the need for adequate and efficient health care for communities in rural areas and she is passionate about making a change.
For the past four years, she has been working on a remote cattle station in the Northern Territory while completing her Bachelor of Nursing online.
Kasey enjoys the flexible learning options that are available to CQUniversity students and believes the practical components of her degree have contributed to her success.
Kasey is grateful for receiving the scholarship and says she is looking forward to what the future holds.
The ambitious student would like to specialise in midwifery and provide her skills to those living in rural areas.
