Desert Poppies Men's and Ladies Community Bush Day

 General Grant - Organisation

This general grant supported this community group of isolated people to come together for a skills-building and wellbeing day.

With around 50 attendees, the project outcome was for a day for Men & Women to come together to learn new skills. There was a focus on skills for the workplace like using drones to implement technology in agricultural practices. The drone workshop taught the attendees all of the rules and regulations, as well as fying the drone to allow these skills to be utilized in everyday life on the land.

Incorporating wellbeing, a yoga workshop taught attendees specific practices that keep our minds and bodies agile whilst living in an isolated remote regional community.

A great community event, that brought people from far and wide, making connections with others, some for the first time.

Quote from organiser

"The grant assisted the Desert Poppies day by allowing the day to be a FREE event, and that was very much appreciated. We were able to cover costs so that everyone could attend. Travel for some was 100's of km's, which is a big expense, therefore, it

meant that people could come and enjoy a day of learning, and

mingling with other like-minded people. Every attendee was so grateful for your contribution, it allowed many people to attend who may not have if there was a cost. Thank you doesn't feel like enough, we were all so appreciative of your support through the grants program."
